Paply Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 1, 2026
Paply is a dating and social discovery app for adults 18 and older. This
Privacy Policy explains how Paply ("Paply," "we," "us," or "our") collects,
uses, shares, retains, and protects information when you use the Paply mobile
app, web experiences, support channels, and related services.
If you have questions or want to exercise a privacy right, contact us at
1. What Paply Does
Paply helps adults create a profile, discover other people, match through
mutual interest, chat, manage social or dating preferences, and use safety
tools such as report, block, unmatch, profile visibility, and account deletion.
Because Paply is a social app, some information you add to your profile is
intended to be shown to other users according to your settings and the product
surface you use.
2. Age Requirement
Paply is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not
knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create or use a Paply account. If we learn
that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may restrict or delete the
account and associated data. If you believe a minor has created an account,
contact paply.social@gmail.com.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of Paply,
information from your device with permission, and information from service
providers that help us run the app.
Account and sign-in information
We collect account information such as your email address, Firebase user ID,
sign-in provider, linked sign-in methods, authentication metadata, account
status, sign-in history, last active timestamps, and support or account
security information needed to operate and protect your account. If you use
Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive information those providers make
available for authentication, such as provider identifiers and basic account
details required to sign you in.
Profile and discovery information
We collect information you add during onboarding or profile editing, including
first name, date of birth, age, gender, sexuality, relationship goals,
interests, bio, photos, height, school, work, languages, lifestyle details
such as exercise or drinking preferences, religion, family plans, discovery
filters, visibility settings, verification status, and related profile
preferences.
Some profile fields may be considered sensitive in certain places, including
sexual orientation, religious preference, precise or coarse location, photos,
and other personal characteristics you choose to provide. You control whether
to provide many of these fields, but some information is required to create a
safe and functional dating profile.
Photos, media, and user-generated content
We collect photos and other content you upload or send, including profile
photos, chat messages, GIF or game embeds, concierge scheduling content,
reports, and optional report details. Profile photos are processed, optimized,
and placed in a moderation quarantine before approved assets are published to
your profile. We may scan or review user-generated content to detect abuse,
policy violations, illegal activity, spam, harassment, or unsafe behavior.
Location information
Paply uses location to support nearby discovery, city labels, filters, and
Meet/event features. When you grant location permission, the app may use your
device location to determine a city or coarse discovery location. Paply is
designed not to show your exact GPS coordinates to other users for dating
discovery. We may use approximate coordinates, city labels, grid cells, or
coarse distance-related signals to power discovery and safety features.
For location lookup, Paply may send coordinates to a reverse-geocoding provider
to convert them into a city, state, or country label. If you host or join an
event, event location information may include public-safe place or area labels,
and exact event addresses may be stored separately and shown only when the app
allows it for eligible participants.
Messages, matches, requests, and activity
We collect match, swipe, like, message request, chat, message, read receipt,
presence, active status, block, unmatch, and report information needed to run
Paply. Messages are visible to the people in the conversation and may be
processed by Paply systems for delivery, safety, moderation, troubleshooting,
and abuse prevention. Presence and active status are shown only according to
your settings and the applicable match or chat relationship.
Purchases and membership
If you purchase a Paply membership or subscription, payment is processed by the
app store provider, such as Apple or Google. Paply does not receive your full
payment card details. We may receive and store purchase identifiers, product
IDs, transaction or receipt validation data, subscription status, entitlement
state, expiration dates, renewal state, platform, and related audit metadata so
we can activate, restore, validate, and support your membership.
Device, usage, diagnostics, and security information
We collect information needed to operate and protect the app, such as device
type, operating system, app version, platform, language, coarse performance
signals, crash logs, handled errors, app environment, Firebase project binding,
push notification tokens, App Check or device attestation results, anti-abuse
signals, local cache state, and usage events such as onboarding progress,
swipes, discovery fetch health, chat send health, settings actions, media
loading reliability, and purchase validation results.
Paply analytics are designed to avoid message bodies, exact location,
passwords, tokens, phone numbers, and email addresses in analytics parameters.
You can manage analytics collection in the app where the setting is available.
Support, moderation, and legal requests
If you contact us, submit a report, request data export, request account
deletion, appeal a moderation action, or otherwise communicate with support, we
collect the information needed to respond, investigate, comply with law,
protect users, and maintain an audit trail.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create, authenticate, and secure accounts.
- Build and show dating, social, and Meet profiles.
- Power discovery, filters, swipes, likes, matches, message requests, and chat.
- Process profile photos and user-generated content for safety and moderation.
- Provide profile sharing, reporting, blocking, unmatching, and account safety
controls.
- Provide push notifications for messages, matches, account updates, and other
categories you choose to receive.
- Validate memberships, purchases, restores, and entitlement state.
- Provide location-based discovery, city labels, event features, and fraud
prevention.
- Operate analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, performance monitoring,
abuse prevention, App Check, rate limiting, and reliability systems.
- Enforce our Terms, Community Guidelines, and safety policies.
- Respond to support requests, data export requests, account deletion requests,
legal requests, and security incidents.
- Comply with applicable law and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of
Paply, our users, and others.
5. What Other Users Can See
Depending on your settings and app mode, other users may see parts of your
public profile, such as first name, age, photos, bio, interests, relationship
goals, city or location label, school, work, languages, lifestyle traits,
verification status, and Meet profile or event details. People you match,
connect, message, or join events with may see additional information needed for
that interaction, such as chat messages, read state if enabled, active status if
enabled, event participation, and event details.
You should not add information to your profile or messages that you do not want
other users in the relevant surface to see.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with
data brokers. We do not use third-party advertising networks to track you
across other companies' apps or websites for targeted advertising.
We may share information in the following ways:
- With other Paply users, as needed to provide profile discovery, matching,
messaging, Meet, event, and safety features.
- With service providers that help us operate Paply, including Firebase and
Google Cloud services for authentication, database, storage, cloud functions,
push notifications, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring,
remote configuration, App Check, and photo moderation.
- With app store and platform providers such as Apple and Google for sign-in,
subscriptions, purchase validation, push notifications, crash diagnostics,
and platform security.
- With location or media service providers when needed to provide an app
feature, such as reverse geocoding for city labels or GIF search when GIFs
are used.
- With moderators, support providers, legal advisors, or safety vendors when
necessary to investigate reports, prevent harm, comply with law, or enforce
our policies.
- With authorities, regulators, courts, or other parties if required by law,
legal process, emergency safety needs, or to protect rights and security.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale
of assets, subject to appropriate protections for user information.
7. Third-Party Services
Paply uses third-party services to provide core app functionality. These may
include Firebase and Google Cloud, Apple services, Google sign-in or Google Play
services, GIPHY, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim or another reverse-geocoding provider,
and app store payment systems.
Third-party services process information according to their own terms and
privacy policies when they act as independent controllers. When they act as
Paply service providers, we use them to process information for Paply's
purposes described in this policy.
8. Permissions
Paply asks for permissions only when needed for app features:
- Camera: to take profile photos or other supported in-app media.
- Photos or media library: to choose profile photos or other supported media.
- Location: to support nearby discovery, city labels, filters, and events.
- Notifications: to send message, match, account, safety, and optional
marketing notifications according to your notification settings.
You can change device permissions in your device settings. Some features may
not work, or may use fallback behavior, if permissions are disabled.
9. Your Controls and Choices
Paply provides controls to help you manage your privacy:
- Edit or remove profile fields and photos where the app allows editing.
- Manage profile visibility, including discoverable, matches-only, or hidden
visibility settings where available.
- Manage dating discovery filters separately from profile information.
- Manage read receipts and active status visibility.
- Manage push notification categories, mute-all settings, and quiet hours.
- Manage analytics collection where the in-app control is available.
- Use data-saving controls for media prefetch behavior.
- Block, unblock, unmatch, or report users.
- Request a copy of your data through Download My Information where available.
- Delete your account from the in-app account settings flow.
- Manage linked sign-in methods, subject to account lockout protections.
- Manage app permissions through your device settings.
10. Account Deletion and Data Export
You can request account deletion in the app from Account & Security settings.
Paply may require recent authentication and typed confirmation to protect your
account from accidental or unauthorized deletion. The deletion flow may offer a
data export option before deletion.
When you delete your account, Paply deletes or de-identifies your account record
and associated personal data according to our deletion workflow, including
profile data, settings, photos, device tokens, matching data, and messaging
artifacts where deletion is permitted. Some deletion work may be processed
asynchronously, but our goal is to complete deletion within 24 hours unless an
exception applies.
We may retain limited information when required or permitted for legal,
security, fraud prevention, billing, dispute resolution, safety, moderation, or
abuse-prevention reasons. For example, reports, moderation decisions, safety
audit logs, or legal-hold records may be retained in redacted or restricted
form when necessary to protect users and comply with law.
If your account uses Sign in with Apple, Paply treats associated Apple sign-in
authorization as part of account deletion where required by Apple. You can also
manage Sign in with Apple connections in your Apple ID settings. If you have an
active subscription, deleting your Paply account may not automatically cancel
billing through Apple or Google. You should manage or cancel subscriptions
through your app store account settings.
11. Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide Paply, maintain account
security, support user safety, comply with law, resolve disputes, process
purchases, provide backups, and enforce our policies.
Typical retention depends on the data type:
- Account, profile, settings, matches, chats, and membership data are generally
retained while your account is active.
- Photos and media are retained while needed for your account, moderation, or
safety workflows.
- Local caches may remain on your device until logout, cache clearing,
uninstall, or automatic cache expiration.
- Data export artifacts are intended to be temporary and expire after the
retention period shown in the export workflow.
- Crash, diagnostics, analytics, anti-abuse, and operational logs are retained
only as long as needed for reliability, security, product analytics, and
compliance.
- Safety, moderation, legal, purchase, and abuse-prevention records may be
retained longer when necessary.
12. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information,
including Firebase security rules, server-authoritative lifecycle controls,
App Check, authentication controls, access restrictions, moderation workflows,
storage quarantine for photos, local cache isolation, environment separation,
and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we
cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. International Processing
Paply and our service providers may process information in the United States
and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have
privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live. When required, we use
appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
14. Legal Bases for Users in the EEA, UK, or Similar Regions
Where legal bases are required, we process information based on:
- Contract necessity, to provide the Paply service you request.
- Consent, such as for device permissions, optional profile information,
certain notifications, analytics choices, or other optional features.
- Legitimate interests, such as safety, security, abuse prevention, service
improvement, fraud prevention, and protecting users.
- Legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests, accounting, tax,
consumer protection, and safety obligations.
- Vital interests or public interest where needed to address urgent safety
risks.
You may withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, but withdrawal
will not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal or processing based
on another legal basis.
15. California and Other U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct,
delete, or receive a copy of certain personal information; to opt out of sale,
sharing, or targeted advertising; to limit certain uses of sensitive personal
information; or to appeal a privacy decision.
Paply does not sell personal information and does not share personal
information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are
commonly used in U.S. state privacy laws. Paply uses sensitive information,
such as location, photos, and profile attributes you provide, to deliver the
features you request, support safety, prevent abuse, and operate the service.
To exercise rights, contact paply.social@gmail.com. We may need to verify your
identity before fulfilling a request.
16. Push Notifications and Marketing
Paply may send push notifications for messages, matches, account status,
safety, system updates, and marketing where permitted. You can manage
notification categories in the app where available and can also disable
notifications through your device settings. We do not send sensitive personal
or confidential information in push notification content where avoidable.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Paply changes or as legal requirements
change. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify
you, such as updating the effective date, providing an in-app notice, or using
another appropriate method. Your continued use of Paply after an update means
the updated policy applies, except where additional consent is required by law.
